KNOWLEDGE OF CRIMINAL ABORTION AND ITS CONSEQUENCES AMONG TEENAGERS (13–18 YEARS)
This study examines the level of knowledge and awareness of criminal abortion and its consequences among teenage girls aged 13–18 at Omorka Girls Secondary School in Ideato South Local Government Area, Imo State. The research explores the understanding of legal, medical, and social implications of unsafe or illegal abortion practices, including potential health risks, psychological effects, and societal repercussions. Findings from this study aim to highlight knowledge gaps, inform school-based reproductive health education, and guide interventions designed to reduce risky sexual behaviors and promote safe reproductive practices among adolescents. The study is relevant for educators, healthcare providers, policymakers, and community stakeholders interested in adolescent sexual health and legal awareness in Nigerian schools.
